Elbow River Rafting and Room

Started reading a very interesting book called “room.” Disturbing, but I can’t put it down.  Well, except for the portion of today where we went rafting with the crew from last night. It wouldn’t work out well to be reading while in a river. We took off for Elbow River around noon and didn’t get back until about 6 p.m. or so, at which time we were all starving (no one brought food- oops!).

The trip was a great time, though.  Her friends are a really cool bunch to hang out with; easy to have a conversation with and they make you feel almost as though they’ve known you for as long as everyone else. Love people like that! One of them, Matt, is really outgoing and talked to lots of the other rafters we passed on the river. He tried to get them to join up their rafts with us to make a giant floating island down the river.  However, Kristy and I disrupted the plan because every one of the people he invited was chain-smoking and there’s almost nothing I can’t stand more than being outdoors in clean air and having to deal with a bunch of smoke.  Plan foiled, Hi5 to us.

Mike, Kristy’s boyfriend, made his special burgers that evening.  We were all famished and those things were the perfect end to the evening. He makes them with a secret ingredient which makes the burgers amazing… and filling. If you want to know what it is, you’ll have to get his permission (or ask me nicely!).
